Equinox - “the time or date (twice each year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator, when day and night are of equal length”

Equalnox Clothing was established in 2011 by creative director Jordan Daniels. Intended as a visual love story to his grandparents, Daniels tells stories with fabric that are rooted in duality. Named after the spring and summer equinoxes, Equalnox represents a middle ground between polarity—a repetitive theme in the brand’s DNA.

Equalnox Clothing gradually evolved from screen-print shirts to cut-and -sew pieces of contemporary streetwear. The release of novel collections, like Death to Average, Greed and Pride, changed the landscape of fashion locally and soon broadened to an international market. In 2015, the brand showcased their capsule collection Darkest Corner in a major New York City fashion show.

Nearly a decade after the brand’s inception, Equalnox has been featured in GQ, Esquire and other renowned media outlets. Their reach expands far beyond clothing and into lifestyle pieces, accessories and most recently, print publications. Equalnox Magazine is a contemporary coffee table publication and online blog designed to give readers a written and visual representation of the brand.

The future of Equalnox Clothing is as bright as the celestial event it’s inspired by. With promise in his pocket and an arsenal of fresh ideas, Daniels plans to continue telling stories with fabric while paying homage to those who inspired him.

He revolutionised streetwear and luxury that crosses generations and decades. He showed the world that the underrepresented, the underdogs and Black people, in particular, have brilliant minds and can push and compete equally in the establishment. He inspired hope and brought about change.” - Ibrahim Kamara, Art&Image Director Off-White™
